Quintessential Quandary...

As the season comes to an end for all things fun under a warm Summer Sol. I made a last ditch effort to go out with a bang. So what better than to go do one of Colorado's 52 gorgeous 14ers.

The problem presented on your left goes by the title Quandary. That's the summit way off in the distance. This is a photo taken about 2.4miles from the summit about 50ft below tree line. This pig is an ankle bitter, and provides a bitch of a boulder field with plenty of scree to go around. The two photos above are a summit view to the North and one of Kristen's and my proof of hard work.

It's a truly spiritually moving experience traversing Mother Nature's sky rises. The wind whips at you, constantly threatening to help you off the ridge and down to the small lake 6000 ft below.

If you haven't already done so, you gain a respect for what she has to throw at you. With a 7:45am start and the prospect of rain in the afternoon it leaves little time to dally. On the ascent you can see the whole of the Tenmile Range neighboring Quandary beside you, the entire Front Range behind and the Mosquito Range on your left. Its awe striking. Stew seized his first summit and I think he wore himself out thoroughly. We made it to the top by 11:00am with clear blue skys reaching out to the heavens as far as the eye could see. Beautiful. the jog down took us a bit, there was a family of four Mountain Goats, we snapped a few shots and made it back to the car by 1:00. Not a better way to start off a month if you ask me!
Stay posted everyone and enjoy this cool September Air!
Al.
